We hired an attorney almost two yeas ago to file chapter7 bankruptcy. This agency has done nothing
however we paid them 0ver $1600 what can we do?

Additional Details:
We are very displeased do we lose all of the $ we paid them? Can we dismiss them and get some of
our money back? I sent them information they requested from us over three times duplicates via fax,
email, and postal however they always have an excuse to why they still do not have all of my paper
work. I send them emails and leave messages for them to return my calls but I am now being ignored
by the very people I hired. We are frustrated and need some advice or guidance to what we need to do
next. We could use a referral someone we can trust And will work for us not against us.

You obviously made a bad choice for your attorney. I would suggest contact your state bar association regarding getting some of your money back. What you will be entitled to will depend in part on the terms of the contract you signed with the attorney, and how much work they actually did on your papers, etc.

If you hire a new attorney, they may be able to apply to the bankruptcy court to have some of your fees returned from the prior attorney as well.
